    Can you run the feeders to a [combination] sub panel through the branch cct breaker area to the 'main' breaker barrier area ( and leave the barrier cover off) as you CAN with a load center sub panel that has no 'main' breaker in it? The combo panel is cheaper.

    Yes, you can. Rule 6-212 refers to services, since you are running feeders to this panel, you no longer need the barrier in the panel, I would remove the main breaker and use lugs instead, and save the breaker for another job. The overload protection ahead of the feeders would protect the panel.
